RULES & REGULATIONS


Introduction
Santhigiri Ayurveda Medical College established in the year 2002 by SANTH IGIRI ASHRAM imbibing the vision of its founder GURU, NAVAJYOTH ISREE KARUNAKARA GURU. It aims at bringing up a group of doctors with profound scholarship and deep understanding of Ayurveda, sound scientific knowledge in Ayurvedic fundamentals,extensive practical training, and above all, possessing the great principles of The Nava Arogya Dharma Siddhantham envisioned by GURU.

COLLEGE RULES

To maintain a healthy and disciplined campus atmosphere and to ensure academic excellence, it is necessary to frame and implement certain rules and regulations. All students are to abide by these rules and regulations.

Rules and Code of Conduct

1. All students should wear their identity card when they come to the college and show the authorities on demand.

2. Students shall always behave with dignity and courtesy.

3. Discipline and peace should be maintained in the campus.

4. Students shall not smoke or chew pan or use other psycho active substances.

5. No notice, handbill, pamphlet, etc shall be circulated among the students or exhibited on the notice board or elsewhere in the campus without prior permission from the Principal.

6. Prior permission should be taken from the head of the institution for organizing/attending meetings in the campus or collecting money for any purpose.

7. Students who go to other colleges or institutions to lead/take part in such acts aimed at or abetting disruption of normal academic activity of that college or institution will be liable for punishment.

8. Irregular attendance, Insubordination to teachers, habitual inattention to class work, obscenity in words or acts etc are sufficient reasons for the permanent dismissal or temporary expulsion of a student.

9. Students shall always maintain utmost decency in their interaction with fellow students. Any instance of harassment will be viewed very seriously and invite stringent punishment.

10. Use of mobile phone or such electronic equipments in the college campus is not allowed.

11. Students should desist from the unhealthy practices of forming gangs/groups.

12. The furniture in a class room or any other place should not be shifted to other places without the permission of the HODs concerned.

13. After the class is over, no student is permitted to remain in the college or college premises without the permission from authorities.

14. Loitering in the Verandas, gathering in front of the classes, corridors, portico etc. are detrimental to the smooth functioning of the college and should be avoided.

15. The walls, class room and premises of the college should be kept clean and tidy. The college properties should not be damaged/disfigured.

16. Using crackers or explosives with in 100 mtr of the campus is strictly prohibited by the honourable High Court of Kerala. It shall be considered as a criminal offense.

17. Healthy relation, true friendship and peaceful co-existence are expected in a system of co education. Students should desist from undesirable relations and indecent behaviour.

18. Day scholars are not permitted to enter the campus during Holidays without permission.

19. Boys are not permitted to stay in the Campus after 5 pm.

20. Dress code: As per the Uniform to be decided by the Management. Students not wearing uniforms will not be allowed to attend the classes.

Thursdays:  White Sarees for Girls & White Shirt and white dhotis for Boys.

21. Students are prohibited from riding Vehicles in the college campus. (G.O.No. 143 / 2003 /Higher Education dated 1-2-2003.)

22. Ragging is an inhuman and cruel activity not only from the point of view of the law of the land but from moral perspective also.

23. Students should not involve any activity which will affect the normal functioning of the college.

24. Legal penalty for ragging: “Whoever commits ragging, participate in, abets or propagates within or outside any educational institution shall on conviction be punished with imprisonment for a term of which may extend to two years and shall also be liable to a fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees.” “Any student convicted of an offence under section 4 of the above Act shall be dismissed from the institution and such student shall not be admitted in any other educational institution for a period of three years from the date of the order of such dismissal.” Students are warned that in case the applicant for admission is found to have indulged in ragging in the past or if it is noticed later that he has indulged in ragging, admission may be refused or he shall be expelled from the educational institution. Each student of the institution and his/her parent should submit a combined undertaking in the prescribed form at the time of admission which is mandatory for registration.

HENCE RAGGING WITH IN OR OUTSIDE THE COLLEGE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED AS PER PROVISIONS OF KERALA PROHIBITION OF RAGGING ACT 1998 AND DIRECTIVES OF THE SUPREME COURT OF INDIA DATED MAY 16, 2007.

25. Attendance and Leave

a. Proper leave letter countersigned by his/her parent to be submitted to the Principal through the concerned Class  Co-ordinator.
b. Late coming or leaving the class early shall result in loss of attendance.
c. If the absence is for more than three days, due to illness, the application for leave should be submitted along with a medical certificate.
d. Countersign to be obtained from the warden or deputy warden for leave in case of hostlers.
e. The minimum requirement of attendance during a year shall be 80% for each course


26.Fee regulations

a. Fee will be received at the office counter on stipulated dates during office working hours.
b. Students will be given receipt from the office for any payment, for future reference.
c. Fee should be paid in advance on or before the dates notified.

27.PTA Meeting

Parents should attend periodical PTA meetings without any failure. Due to any unavoidable reasons if any parent could not attend any PTA meeting should visit the Principal and other faculties within one week.

28. Examinations:

For appearing university examinations students should be eligible by maintaining a minimum of 80% attendance in each subject & 35% Marks in internal examinations. Partial appearance in University examination can be possible, when the student has a minimum of 80% attendance in all the subjects of a particular year. Appearance for all internal assessment examinations and class tests is mandatory.

29.Students Mess

Students should not sit in the mess during college working hours. Student's mess will be closed at 8.20am in morning and 2.00pm in the afternoon.

30.Prayer

Every student should attend the Morning Prayer at 8.25am and during the prayer they should standup devotionally. In the college campus if any students could not enter in to the class room during prayer time, should stay there itself devotionally and pray.

31.Parayanam

Students should compulsorily attend parayanam (Ashtanga Hridayam) at 8.30 am


LIBRARY  RULES

1. Library remains open from 9.00 am to 5.00pm throughout the year except Sundays and other holidays.
2. Strict discipline must be maintained in the library.
3. Silence shall be observed in the library.
4. Each student will be issued three cards. He/ she can take three books at a time by producing cards.  Books  must  be returned within fifteen days. A student may renew the same books after fifteen days for a period of another fifteen days. Books must be returned after that failing in which he/she will be fined at the rate of Rs.1 per book per day. All Holidays will be included in arriving at the number of days of overdue.
5. Students must not to bring their belongings including texts and note books inside the library.  A separate shelf has been kept at the entrance of the Library to keep all personal belongings.
6. Books once issued should not be brought to the library other than for returning.
7. Library cards are not transferable.
8. A Book issued may be recalled before the due date if required urgently in the Library. Failure to respond promptly may lead to suspension of library privileges.
9. Reference books will not be issued, but are available for study with in the library.
10. Loss of borrowing cards and books should be reported to the Librarian immediately.
11. Duplicate cards will be issued on payment of Rs. 50/- per card.
12. In the event of any book being lost, it shall be replaced by another copy by the concerned and overdue charges, if any, will be levied from the borrower.
13. In all case and circumstances the user will entirely be responsible for all books borrowed against their cards.
14. Tearing of sheets from books and news papers is strictly prohibited and is punishable.
15. Students must make sure themselves whether the books are in good condition before they leave the counter, if any damage is noticed, the same must be immediately intimated. Otherwise they will be responsible for damages.
16. Final Professional students should return all the books and surrender library cards on completion of the Examinations  and obtain "No dues Certificate"

HOSTEL RULES

1.  Ragging is strictly prohibited as per the Order of Hon’ble Supreme Court. Stringent disciplinary action will be initiated against those who indulge in ragging.
2.  Smoking, conception of alcohol and using illegal drugs is strictly banned in Hostel.
3.  Inmates must submit application for going home to the Deputy warden at least two days in advance.
4.  Application for leave during college working days must be submitted to the Principal through the Class Co-ordinator at least one week in advance. Leave may be sanctioned only after considering the attendance percentage, class test and exam schedules etc. After getting leave sanctioned the inmate must approach the Deputy Warden for finishing the other formalities.
5.  Application for going home during Holidays must be submitted to the Deputy warden at least two days in advance.  They will be given  the Gate Pass which need to be produced at the college gate. Inmates must return to the hostel on the previous evening of the working day.
6.  Inmates must sign in the movement Register (In/Out Register) without fail.
7.  In case of any emergency, the inmates must take permission from the Deputy Warden.
8.  Inmates are allowed to go to the town for maximum four hours duration only.
9.  Inmates are allowed to go to the nearby places (like Ashram) on short duration (1 to 2 hours)by signing in the movement register kept at Hostel and Security Office.
10. Prior Permission from Parents is mandatory for leaving the premises for any reasons.
11. Inmates must be back in the hostel before 6pm. Prior permission of the  Deputy warden must be taken if any inmate is accompanied by her parents and arriving late to the hostel.
12. Inmates are not permitted to go out before 6 am and after 6 pm
13. Inmates must take permission to conduct any programs or to celebrate in the Hostel.
14. Outsiders are not permitted to enter the hostel premises.Prior permission should be taken if parents are visiting their ward at Hostel.Visitors are not allowed inside the hostel building.
15. Yearly Hostel Rent is to be paid in two equal installments as per the below schedule:

Part payment will not be accepted. In case of default in payment as per above schedule, a fine of 10% on the outstanding amount will be levied.

16.  Food must be taken in the dining hall only. Carrying food to the room is not allowed.

17.  No meetings will be held in the hostel without prior permission of the Deputy warden.

18.  Every inmate must assemble in the prayer hall at 6pm. Prior permission must be taken from the deputy warden if one cannot attend the prayer on health grounds. Attendance will be taken immediately after the prayer.

19.  No inmate must remain in the hostel during class hours.

20.  Keep the premises neat & clean.Waste must be disposed as per the Instructions. 21.  Do not disturb neighbors and others.

22.  Inmates must behave in a most disciplined manner.

23.  Timings of hostel and mess must be strictly followed.

24.  Rooms and surroundings must be kept neat and tidy.

25.  The attire and the conduct of the inmate must be in tune with the decorum of the college.

26.  Lights and fans must be put off when not in use.Inmates must take care not to damage any of the furniture and other assets failing in which they have to pay fine.

27.  Hostel Supervisor should provide a list of those inmates who are staying in the Hostel Room or Hospital for whatever reasons during Class Hours, to the Class Co-ordinator before 9.30 am every day.
